A Rare and Untouched Piece of Automotive History

Gabriel Voisin, originally an architect, made a profound impact on both the aviation and automotive industries. Following the success of Avions Voisin during World War I, he transitioned his business into 'Automobiles Voisin', pioneering a unique approach to automobile manufacturing.

With his deep-rooted experience in aerodynamics and lightweight engineering, Voisin sought to create a car that would redefine prestige, comfort, and speed. This vision led to the introduction of the Voisin C12, a top-of-the-line modelproduced between 1926 and 1933, featuring a powerful 4.5-liter sleeve-valve engine.

Only 160 examples of the Voisin C12 were built, and today, only a couple known survivors remain.

An Untouched and Unrestored Voisin Chassis

This particular 1927 Avions Voisin C12, chassis number 30077, is an extraordinary survivor:

  • Part of the prestigious Marcoux Collection for decades
  • Never restored and never coach-built – remains in brand-new, untouched condition
  • Likely one of the most sophisticated developments of the Voisin C12 chassis
  • Possibly a factory show chassis, displaying the most advanced engineering of its time

Engineering Excellence and a Work of Art

The Voisin C12 was a masterpiece of engineering, utilizing:

  • Knight sleeve-valve technology, first introduced in the Voisin M1 (1919)
  • A 6-cylinder sleeve valve engine, producing an unparalleled level of smoothness and refinement
  • Aerodynamic and lightweight construction, a hallmark of Voisin’s aviation-influenced designs

A Museum-Worthy Artifact

For some time, this chassis was a part of the Herve Collection in Switzerland and was exhibited at the Pantheon Basel Museum. Given its unrestored and untouched state, it represents a unique opportunity for collectors, museums, or automotive historians to acquire a pristine example of Voisin’s legendary craftsmanship.
