The Ultimate DB2 Evolution
The Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk III represents the final and most refined evolution of the DB2 series, the first model fully developed under David Brown's ownership of Aston Martin. With substantial mechanical improvements, the DB2/4 Mk III was a significant advancement over its predecessors in both engineering and aesthetics.
Designed by W.O. Bentley and further enhanced by Tadek Marek, the car’s DOHC six-cylinder engine was enlarged from 2.6 to 2.9 liters for increased reliability and power. The DB/D engine, fitted to this example, was among the most powerful, producing 180bhp thanks to its twin exhausts and triple SU HV6 carburetors. This version was exceedingly rare, with only 47 cars produced in this specification.
An Exceptional Provenance
This left-hand drive DB2/4 Mk III, chassis no. 1776, was built in 1958 and delivered on April 2, 1959, to Mr. L. from London, via Aston Martin’s Brooklands dealer. Shortly thereafter, the car crossed the Atlantic to Texas, where it remained until 1991, when it was repatriated to France by Alain Aziza, a renowned Aston Martin specialist.
Upon its return, the car underwent a full restoration at Aziza’s workshops, receiving a striking black exteriorcomplemented by a red leather interior. It has since been meticulously maintained and stored by Auto Performance – Aston Martin Paris, ensuring it remains in outstanding condition.
A Collector’s Dream
As the most desirable model in the DB2 range, this Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk III presents in remarkable condition, with impressive paintwork, excellent body panels, and a beautifully preserved interior.
